Attend our quarterly social/meetup at Tutta Bella with special guest Councilmember Mike O'Brien to hear his safe streets priorities.

Join Councilmember Mike O'Brien and us on Wednesday, April 10 (7-8:30pm) for our quarterly social/meetup at Tutta Bella.  RSVP >>

The Speaker

Councilmember Mike O'Brien has served on city council since elected in 2013.  Mike has been the strongest, most consistent voice on city council over the past five years for safe streets, championing the adoption of the 2014 Bicycle Master Plan and 2015 Move Seattle Levy, working closely with neighbors and advocates for numerous policy and infrastructure improvements, and fighting for completing the Missing Link of the Burke-Gilman Trail. He has announced this will be his last term, ending his council service at the end of the year.

As chair of the city council's transportation committee, Councilmember O'Brien is committed to leaving his mark on street policy and infrastructure during his final months in office.  With Mayor Durkan eliminating the already planned and engineered bike lanes for N 40th Street in Wallingford and 35th Ave NE in Wedgwood and severely curtailing new bike improvements across the entire city for the next five years, we look forward to hearing from Mike what his priorities will be and how we can support his efforts.

The Food

We will be in the back/side room of Tutta Bella on Stone Way, and mostly standing & mingling.  We will have three pizzas and small shared finger food, and may purchase additional food depending on attendance.  Individuals will purchase their own beverages.  We'll accept donations for covering the cost of the food.

Getting more involved

In 2019, we're continuing to advocate on the major paving and protected bike lanes planned for Green Lake Drive/Way.  In addition, we hope to organize bike-in movies, a pop-up parklet day on N 45th Street, a PARK(ing) Day activity, safe routes to Lincoln High School, a painted crosswalk/intersection in Tangletown, and any idea you're super passionate about.  You'll have the opportunity to talk with organizers and volunteer for these activities at our social/event.

Co-Leader

P.S. Friday is Councilmember Rob Johnson's last day on city council.  He has been also has been a tremendous champion for safe streets.  Rob is why SDOT just installed protected bike lanes on NE 65th Street in Roosevelt, and he fought tirelessly against Mayor Durkan in support of SDOT's planned bike lanes for 35th Ave NE in Wedgwood.  Because of his leadership, Seattle is and will be a much better city.  Please consider emailing Rob and his staff a thank you message.
