Hi all,
The following are notes, action items, & volunteered assignments from today's meeting. Apologies for any name mistakes. Maybe nametags would be useful? :)
Julene's update - 6th Ave NW (District 6) connection to Burke Gilman Trail / designated safe route:
- This was submitted to "Your Voice, Your Choice: Parks & Streets", and 'Project Development' voting will happen during April
- 'Project Development' = "Teams of community members work together to evaluate and prioritize ideas, narrowing the list to 8-10 project ideas per Council District. Project Development will take place from April 1 - 30, 2019." (aka not final decision - but very important to getting the project on the final vote!)
- Previously, voting was done in person. This year, it will be online
- Julene is doing engagement around this:
- Looking for volunteers to print flyers, and to pass out flyers on April 8, 9, & 10th (@ 3 different locations in District 6)
- Julene will send out the flyer and accompanying blurb/call to action to be posted on social media & shared
- Julene is hosting 2 meetings: Sat 3/30 6 pm, Sun 3/31 6 pm - at her house, to discuss helping out.
May is Bike Month! Great opportunity for movement building!
- Ideas for engagement:
- Table/outreach at Fremont/Ballard Farmers Markets
- Participate in WA Wild trail maintenance day
- May 17th = Bike Everywhere Day
- May 17th also is 17th of May Celebration, a.k.a. Syttende Mai [Soot-n-duh My] / Norway’s Constitution Day. 6-8pm parade in Ballard
- Matt & Bruce will spearhead a celebration station
- Mike Kelley: will reach out to other Seattle Neighborhood Greenway groups to coordinate
Future of the group:
- Potential future locations: Library, coworking spaces, other bars. Peddler getting too crowded come spring/summer.
- Becoming voting members of a coalition (sorry, didn't catch full details here)
- Clara will email out a vision/mission of the coalition for all to read and vote yes/no during April meeting.
- Bryant & Pete volunteered to be representatives of the group at these meetings (held @ Impact Hub Seattle in Pioneer Square)
- Social Media (Facebook & Twitter) are relatively inactive right now. Sarah U (me) & Jamie volunteered to touch base about this and see what we can do.
- Note-taking: I don't mind taking notes & doing this when I'm able to attend :)
Gabe - 11th & Market:
- Currently, terrible & unsafe intersection to cross!
- Ideally, we propose it undergoes improvements similar to 15th Ave NW & NW 53rd St
- To do:
- Gabe to ask SDOT how much the signal / improvements at 15th/53rd cost
- ____ to reach out to Metro about ridership data for bus stop
- Sarah to ask friend if she'd be willing to help us create a video about the intersection using GoPro
Please respond with any edits/missed items/etc.
