Shanghai Tournament.

Hey everybody

Frisbee tourney season is upon us, and none will be bigger or better than the Shanghai Open.

This years info is as follows.

Dates: May 31-June 2 (single-sex May 31, mixed June 1-2)

Location: SRFC

Cost: RMB150 (May 31); RMB600 (June 1-2)

The May 31 is a single day tournament with all guys and all girls teams and costs 150rmb to participate

The June 1-2 is the normal mixed tournament and costs 600rmb to participate.

Now before everybody freaks out about the entrance fee. Last year this included.

2xBreakfast (banana's bread, peanut butter)

2xLunch (bbq compliments of big bamboo)

1x party saturday night (alcohol)

Access to the best fields in Asia

Wanted to e-mail the mailing group to see how many ppl from Free Willy would be interested in participating in the tourney. Realistically we'd need around 15 people or so to field our own team.

Please reply to Sacha or myself directly by this Sunday, Marc 17 if you are interested!

Hi all,

If Free Willy is going to participate in this tournament it will only be in the Mixed tournament on June 1-2. With the responses we've had this far, it is very unlikely we can make a men's or a women's team for the May 31st single day tournament.

 

We have to decide if we want to register a team very soon because there is a lot of interest from many teams and if we wait too long we won't have a spot.

There are a couple of reasons why this tournament would be good to participate in. 

• Last year, teams were separated in 3 pools based on skill level. So even though this tournament will have some of the best teams in Asia, we will be playing against teams that are on a level similar to ours.
• It's in Shanghai and the fields at the SRFC are great! Last year's tournament was a lot of fun and a great experience. Not only will we get to play some great games but watching the higher level teams battle it out in great quality games is something we don't get to see every day.

So if you're interested, let Will or I know as soon as possible. And if you're not sure or have some questions about the tournament, feel free to ask!

Hi All,

Even though Free Willy will not have a full team going to the Shanghai mixed tournament on June 1st and 2nd,  the Huwa (Shanghai Frogs) C team is looking for players. The team will be a mix of players from Huwa, Shanghai Pirates and other players from around Shanghai. 

Some of us are on the B team and we'd love to have more players representing Free Willy at this tournament. The C team should be a good fit for most of you and a good opportunity to play in a big tournament and watch top level games. There will be around 25 teams of all levels at this year's Shanghai open.

If anyone is interested please let me know ASAP so i can arrange for you to be on the team.
