Dear Friends,

Met with the BMTC officials during the reccee for the soon to be introduced HOHO service. Went around with them on a Volvo bus all around the central Bangalore for 3hrs so had good time to interact with them. (yes Ravi, I was carrying my GPS for the reccee and will post the route soon)

Here are the things that I discussed:

1. Allowing bicycles on BMTC buses.: They have agreed to let in the 'foldable bicycles' for now as it occupies less space.
So foldable bicycles are definitely welcome aboard BMTC. I presume that if we can take in foldable bicycles we can take in most of our cycles that come with detachable wheels (as it will occupy less space :-) )

2. Providing parking for bicycles in their terminus's. They are ready to do it. we need to identify the terminus's.

3. Setting up bicycle racks on BMTC buses: They are ready to do it provided we give them the following:

a. some sample bike racks to try out. They will then fabricate the same in their workshop.
b. route nos. on which these racks have to be installed sos that they can put this where there is confirmed ridership.
c. representatives of cycling community to meet them sometime and apprise them on our needs.

Who wants to hop in for this? Raise of hands please.
