Dear members and friends,
This is great news for cyclists and people who want to leave their
motor vehicles at behind and use bicycle and Public transport.
Delhi Metro has started 'Rent-a-bicycle' facility at 3 more stations
namely – Patel Chowk (Line 2), Pragati Maidan and Indraprastha (both
Line 3) from 5th February onwards. It already has one similar facility
at Delhi University operational since Oct'07. Now you can hire at
bicycle and helmet for 4 hours duration at the cost Rs. 10 (US cents
20) only. Besides, free bicycle parking is also being offered at these
4 metro stations for Metro passengers who have prepaid smart card,
otherwise you need to pay Rs. 2 only for parking your cycle at these
Metro stations.
Attaching a press article on this topic for your reference and hope
you will find it interesting. It also has quote from the Founder of
our club Mr. Nalin Sinha.
Delhi Cycling Club also urges its members to make maximum use of this
facility and encourage their friends, family and colleagues also to us
bicycle and public transportation as much as possible.
Hopefully our next Sunday/sat bicycle event (probably 15th/ 22nd
February) will start from one of these Metro stations where Bicycle
facility is started. We would inform you as soon as the date is
finalised.
