Perfect. this is more like what we need! Can we make Pune our pilot? :-)
We'll try and get info from there. They are doing a perfect Velib copy. we'll have to figure out how they started it, how they got govt approval etc. We'll have to contact them.

The Pune Project is great news for freewheeling and very encouraging.
A great idea would be to (unless you guys have discussed it already)
get more people aware of the project by perhaps giving talks to offices,
schools, other institutions...and stress on the benefits of cycling to
work...etc. Something like 'An Inconvenient Truth' version of
Bangalore Freewheeling.

Mr. sujith Patwardhan of the Pune NMT cell will be in Bangalore on 9th, 10th Jan 2009 in connection with a workshop of bicycle freindly planning.

We should all be there for the workshop and engage the various stakeholders.

I am coordinating with Seema Parakh of Embarq who are setting up this workshop. Please let me know whom do you want to be invited for the workshop and we can work together on that front.

The idea is to get as many people as possible who can help make bangalore bicycle friendly. (Politicians, beareaucrats, officials, environmentalists, planners, architects, writers, thinkers, concerned citizens and fo cource freewheelers).

Will follow up with another mail with more details here.

Awesome news, thanks Pradeep,
I was really interested the first time you spoke about this event itself. Please do post further details as they emerge.

Regards,
Ananth
