Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
freetuxtv: Depends: libvlc2 (>= 1.0.0~rc1) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
$ sudo aptitude update && sudo apt-get install freetuxtv

How to get to work.

This means that the freetuxtv package need the libvlc2 package to be installed. This probably means you can't install libvlc2 because you have propably installed another incompatible version of libvlc such as libvlc5.

Did you upgrade your vlc version from another package repository? In that case, the only way is to build FreetuxTV from the source. Nevertheless, you can try a package from an more recent version of Ubuntu (but this may not work). Try the 10.10 package here.
