Is this the thing that we talked about at the meeting last night? I
think that there is a difference between coova.org (see below) and
CoovaOM (which I don't see as an option from within the open-mesh
dashboard)...but I may be wrong.

Coova.org
***********************
Allowed Domains:
coova.org,.facebook.com,.recaptcha.net,.fbcdn.net,open-mesh.com

A list of domains separated by comas that users can access prior to
authentication. Note you should NOT remove default domains from this
list or your captive portal may not function. Clear this list to
return to default settings.

I also picked up a RogersYahoo Portable Internet, and it is awesome.
It is exactly the same system that is used in the NWT (except it isn't
attached to satellite dishes and doesn't cost $20/GB).

Mike,

Coova-OM will be an option on the dashboard in a week or two. New firmware
that leverages all the Coova-OM features will be out at that time. I have
been testing it for a few weeks and it works great.

The Facebook option is an option - not a must have component. I don't use
the Facebook feature.

Thanks Gerry.

info on CoovaOM - https://om.coova.net/about (price is only $45/yr for
payment option...paypal/google checkout)
useful list of links from isf/wifidog - http://bit.ly/WifiDogTNGRelevantTools

for the people who missed the last meeting, we have decided to push
forward with the Open-mesh/Coova platform. The next meeting will
primarily be testing (hopefully CoovaOM will be released by then)

If anyone is interested in creating mobile power supplies for
routers/rogers portable internet etc., let me know. Perhaps our local
hackerspace would be willing to host a workshop for this (if you don't
know - doing stuff outside, in a garage, or basement is for
dorks...but "hacking" in a "space" is supercool). VHS -

Marine battery and an inverter. I have a 1 kilowatt inverter and several 100
amp-hr plus batteries and I think a 240 watt inverter we can use.
