Dear Tamil computing aficionados:

Is Indic language a category we can use for Tamil ?

A growing number of AI practitioners are using the Indic language as a word to describe their work in Dravidian languages and Tamil.

What are advantages of co-opting this neologism ? Indica* maybe a nomenclature from Taxonomy but this Indic seems very fishy in its origins to me.

Can someone explain or concur?
