Hello Moreland BUG,

Here's a quick email to let you all know of upcoming bike events in Moreland.

Saturday 29 February - Moreland BUG Vision Day, 1:00-3:00pm, Coburg Library meeting room

Open to all bike enthusiasts, we'll be brainstorming future bike priorities to make Moreland safe to cycle for all. Agenda and further details to come this week.

We encourage everyone attending to have quick read of Moreland Council's 10 Year Capital Works Program for Pedestrians and Cyclists. We'll be assessing this plan against our own priorities.

See our Facebook event page for more info.

Sunday 1 March - Sydney Road Street Party

Moreland BUG will be hosting a stall to reach out to locals to get involved with the BUG and to attend our upcoming community ride down Sydney Road (see below).

If you'd like to help out with handing out flyers and chatting to passersby, please let us know.

See our Facebook page for more info.

Sunday 15 March - Sydney Road community Bike Ride (Ride for Life), 11:00am

This will be the big one. We'll be riding all the way down Sydney Road from Coburg to Princes Park, calling for separated bike lanes down Sydney Road. The state government have squandered the opportunity to trial separated lanes during the 18 month closure of the Upfield Shared User Path due to LXRP works. The detours are pathetic.

Bring your family, friends, kids, uncles, aunties, cousins, loved ones, and grandma. Riding a bike should be safe and convenient for all. So this event will be safe and inclusive for all.

We'll ride all the way down Sydney Road from Bridges Reserve, Coburg and finishing for a picnic in Princes Park.

Meet at Bridges Reserve, Coburg (next to Coburg Leisure Centre) at 11am, or join us along the way.

More details to come. See Facebook page for more info.

Saturday 21 March - Sydney Road PARK(ing) day, 10:00am-12:00pm

Hosted by state Member for Brunswick, Tim Read, this event will temporarily take over a car parking space to showcase what Sydney Road could look like - more seating, greenery, and bike lanes and less pollution and chaos.

Where: Sydney Road, Brunswick between Weston St and Barkly St, near the new bouldering wall)

See Facebook page.

Note - due to Saturday's Vision Day, this Thursday's regular BUG meeting is cancelled.

If you'd like to be more involved in any of the above events, feel free to get in contact with James Conlan (conl...@gmail.com).

Cheers,
James
