to Freesound API

Hello,

I’m developing an open-source application that integrates the Freesound API to help users explore and download sounds from Freesound.org. The app will be entirely non-commercial, and users will authenticate via OAuth2 to interact with the API.

I wanted to clarify how the rate limits mentioned in the documentation (Freesound API Throttling)—60 requests per minute and 2,000 requests per day—are enforced. Specifically, do these limits apply per IP address, per logged-in user, or per API key?

If the limits are tied to the API key, I’d like to inquire about the possibility of obtaining a higher quota, as my application may require more requests to function smoothly. Please let me know if this would be feasible and what the process would be for requesting an increased limit.

Thank you for your time!

Best regards,
Marcos JSP.
