Hi everyone,

This is just to let you know that starting on the 1st of May, the Freesound API will automatically redirect http requests to https, and www requests to non-www (eg http://www.freesound.org -> https://freesound.org). This redirection policy has been applied to the rest of the Freesound website for some years now, but some parts of the API were still exempt. Currently, the API traffic of http and www requests is less than 1% of the total. Furthermore, implementing this redirect does not mean that existing API clients using http and/or www will necessarily fail. That will depend on how redirectas are handled in the applications.

The vast majority of you won't have to make any changes, but maybe you want to take this opportunity to double-check that your requests are being directed to https://freesound.org and not any other combination of http/https and www/non-www.

For your information, our https certificate roots will be LetsEncrypt (https://letsencrypt.org/certificates/) and GÉANT (https://www.geant.org/Services/Trust_identity_and_security/Pages/TCS.aspx)

Thanks everyone,

frederic
