I can't stand the heat, so I'm getting out of the (Usenet) kitchen.
Please send the carriage clock to the usual address.

Thanks, or something.

I'm inclined to do the same.

Its becoming increasingly clear that I (and others) are wasting our time
here.

Is it my age or what? It seems to me that increasingly folk don't want
to improve their skills and knowledge and benefit from other's
experience?

There's lots of alternative ways that I could spend my time that would
make my bank manager happy.

You think becuase people disagree they cannot learn?
I think people learn most through argument

People learn most through asking questions.
If you don't know something, you hardly argue with someone do you ?

Sometimes an agressive stance draws a more honest answer. Challenging
and answer you don't like is more likely to gain you alternatives than
keeping quiet :)

personally have refrained from replying to Tony's posting for this express
reason.

Can we please be civil just for once ? Tony, if you wan't to fight this one
out, I'd be happy to take it outside this thread ;o)

Personal problems, libellous usenet posts in other groups, generally the
feeling that I'm wasting my time doing this. We're having 5 days of 25
degree sunshine down here. It's more fun sleeping on the beach than
arguing with tossers who will never learn.

It is certainly a good book, I would recommend anyone in sales and marketing
read it.
That is assuming you mean "how to win ..... and influence"

Who said anything about keeping quiet ?
Asking questions, usually involves sounds coming from one's mouth ;-)

Usually those who argue about something they know little about, make
the most noise, empty vessels and all that physics ;-)

Thanks, but it's to be expected. Ironically, it kind of sums up the
reason why I'm taking a break though. If I wanted to have a pointless
argument with someone, I'd talk to a mirror. Catch you later, Blue. ;o)

Bye Arty. It seems you are always coming or going here. I think this has to
be one of the shortest stays however.
I wont get all emotional, I'll just say "Welcome back!" for about three
weeks in advance (hopefully).

It sounds as though your mind is pretty well made up, hopefully you can make
it up to come back soon.

FOR F**** SAKE Arty stop pissing about and hang around. I'd come over and
have a beer and a smoke if I had the bloody time. There are a few experts
lingering in here - you all know who you are and despite what you think the
advice and help is well read and appreciated even if not always commented
upon in that way. Tell Tony to stop pissing around as well. The clueless
(sadly one is here) need as much bloody advice as we can get.
