Hi Gang,
Has anyone had dealings with ic24? I have been having
problems connecting to the net with freeserve, especially after about 6pm,
and was thinking of signing up to another free isp as a standby.
Any ideas??

Dont use the CD to sign up with!!! it will take over. just sign up at the
ic24 web sit and get the dial up connection, its free and you can usually
connect after about 10 goes and if you cant connect you can always connect
with your old ISP but if you use the CD it will wipe out your old version of
IE and install the ic24 version.

cheers Rick

HI,
Thanks for the replies. I hate to admit to being such a prat, but when
signing up I didn't take a note of my user
name. Incredible but true!!!
I am almost sure I signed up with "ivanclough". Could any
body hazard a guess what my username could be???
TIA

Hi
Your username for ic24 isn't actually a name but an account ID number.
It would have been given to you when you registered.
It should be something like "ICOds4z00"
Hope this helps

Cheers Rick

Could anyone provide the dial up and server details, please? I don't
want to run the set up program cos I don't know quite what it might
do. Rather set the thing up manually.
Thanks.

When you signed up with ic24, you should have received an E-Mail along the
following lines:

You Registered Successfully with ic24!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please make a note of the following information:

Account ID ic123w456

Email address joeb...@ic24.net

Password yourpassword

Dial-Up Number 0845 3040510

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Several weeks ago, ic24 sent a further E-Mail which read -

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You can change your Internet dial up settings easily by visiting
www.ic24.net and either clicking on the 'FREE online time' box, or selecting
'ic24 for FREE' from the drop down menu, and following the instructions.

The FREE 0800 number is 0800 0561 560

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you really don't want to use the on-line facility, the settings for
dial-up networking are:

User Name - [insert your Account ID - NOT your E-Mail address]]
Password - [your password]
Telephone number 0845 3040510 (local call charges)
Freephone Telephone number 0800 0561 560
(Freephone operates 20:00 - 24:00 Mon - Fri and 09:00 - 17:00 Sat & Sun).

Server Types:
Tick "Enable Software compression" and TCP/IP. All other boxes remain
unticked.

TCP/IP settings are:
Server assigned IP address, Server assigned name server addresses, Use IP
header compression, and Use default gateway on remote network.

In Outlook Express, the account settings are:

Incoming mail:
195.44.63.9 (As an alternative, you can enter pop3.ic24.net.
However, the numerical address avoids a technical problem which occurs
occasionally with the ic24 mail system).

Outgoing Mail: smtp.ic24.net

Account name: [insert the Account ID]

Password: [your password]
