So how does feedback get to the people who run this NNTP server?

I hate to think that the cynical adage

"You get what you pay for" is true.

As someone who has done UNIX administration including at one time
running an INN server, I offer the opinion that this server is poorly
administered on two counts:

1) As I had said before and was ignored: Multi part messages are
poorly handled, either missing parts are expired inconsistently
or deliberately mishandled.

2) The Active file is not cleaned up in a timely manner when messages
have expired. This means for many newsreaders null message bodies
are sent and not reported. Expired messages should change the active
file.

I would expect greater pride in running this server.

Which server? You appear to be posting from news.netfront.net. So why
are you asking in a newsgroup for the customers (I used to be one) of
a long dead UK ISP?

...You should know the purpose of the freeserve.* hierachy.
