Hi,
I remembered that I saw a couple months ago a project that walks the
same road as Freeseer.
Quoted from their wiki :
> Scenic is an on stage telepresence system that allows for real time

> systems can be used in various artistic contexts, so that two
> different creative spaces can communicate with each other or present
> a combined performance. Thus, a dramatic work could be performed

I believe that they have some local recording support, but most of their
work is focused on real-time (lowest latency possible) telepresence
streaming. It's in use in many locations throughout the world.
I don't know much more other than I think they use GTK toolkit for the
frontend and GStreamer on the backend.
Cheers,
Olivier
