Thisarticle provides a troubleshooting guide on how to solve the issue of not being able to find a disk drive during the installation of Windows 11/10. The solution is to load the corresponding driver during the installation process.
For the Intel CPU platform, you need to manually install Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) driver during the Windows installation process. You can also refer to the Intel document of How to Configure RAID or Intel Optane Memory with Intel RST on an Intel VMD Capable Platform.
Note: The following pictures are a reference, it may be various depending on the different versions.
If you still cannot find the disk drive during Windows installation, consider referring to this section: Disable Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) technology to continue with the installation of Windows.
Update your NVIDIA drivers or not depends on your specific needs and preferences. If you're satisfied with your laptop's current performance and have no specific reasons to update, it's perfectly fine to stick with the drivers that came with the laptop.
I'm new to linux/ubuntu, and I recently purchased an external SIIG docking station and a ASUS zenbook. Booting into an 18.04.1 LTS desktop install on the laptop, two driver issues are evident: 1) the touchpad right-click is not working with the current ubuntu distro provided driver and 2) the driver loading for USB-C (USB 3.1) from the distro only works with the keyboard and mouse through the SIIG docking station. Yes, I've googled linux driver issues although I just want to quickly research (not jump into non-free db update apt-get etc) if drivers are available for these two devices someplace else (community? non-free?). Or do I log the issues with the Ubuntu community for these bugs? Since the distro drivers do seem to recognize the devices, but are only partially functional for both.
I whiped the Ubuntu install and now I am functional with a Windows10Pro host boot, everything works, but I've had to resort to Ubuntu in a virtualbox VM - this is definitely sub optimal. I'm trying to make the full switch over to linux and I want Windows in the guest VM - so really appreciate any help here.

Have you tried disabling the on-board graphics? If so, You may need to get the drivers from ASUS for that particular card instead of Nvidia. ASUS has a habit of maintaining their own releases that they certify for their own devices because of some of the features and/or limitations they put into their hardware that are not part of the template that Nvidia publishes their universal drivers for.
I would suggest updating UEFI/BIOS first, then reinstall the Intel Integrated drivers (you can have them loaded with the Nvidia drivers just fine, just only one will actually operate at a time most of the time). Windows and the hardware have gotten quite a bit smarter, so your machine will utilize certain functions from either/both graphical solutions as applicable so long as everything is properly installed. Once you have all the most up-to-date drivers, firmware, and UEFI/BIOS installed, you should be set.
check the bios version and update if necessary (yeah it sucks) also i would to to the board manufacturer for drivers i do it for gigabyte boards alot. funny thing if i get a gigabyte video card and put it on a board it automatically boots up (which is kinda nice then its just latest drivers for it all was a pain building computers these days but pretty sweet when you get it where you want it
I attempted to upgrade VROC drivers from verion 6.3 to the latest 7.7 on a Windows 11 Pro 22H2 workstation. However, the Intel installer failed. The only result I have are the two attached log files. Anyone has any help on this issue?
In that case, please continue working as it is recommended to work with the latest driver provided by the system manufacturer, and check if they can provide an update, but if that is not the case you may need to continue using the last version you were able to install, or the latest one already on their website.
