Haas fixed-jaw vises are a single-station design, with one stationary jaw and one moveable jaw. These manual milling vises provide secure workpiece clamping and accurate positioning for all machining operations. The simple bolt-on jaws are easily changed or reversed, without disassembling the vise, and the jaws can be attached to the outside ends of the jaw plates to accommodate larger workpieces. Replacement hard jaws, as well as machinable steel and aluminum soft jaws are available.

For the last three years I have been considering moving to a different CAM software because it seems that FC is just stagnating. Every now and again they will fix a bug or add some trivial feature, but as for updating the user interface or fixing the legacy issues, crickets........
I often feel like Autodesk is just try to milk the FeatureCAM users for as much as they can before they kill it, force people to move to Fusion, or choose to use a dead legacy software with no future (this seems to be where we are at now).
I started using Featurecam about a year ago and coming from Esprit, I was really really surprised with the power of Featurecam. Featurecam has capabilities that I wish every CAM package had, and yet it lacks in some spots that are clear indicators that Autodesk has written off Featurecam.
Autodesk will tell you that Featurecam isn't going anywhere. They'll also tell you that Fusion360 is getting the same functionality and that in a few years time "fusion 360 will replace powermill and featurecam with one software package that has extensions to unlock the high-end functionality." The thing is.. Featurecam and Powermill operate and compute in ways completely different than fusion 360. If the 3 software packages were cars, fusion would be a Volkswagen Beatle, while featurecam and powermill are heavy-duty muscle cars built to handle seriously complicated programming. You cant take a Ferrari motor and shove it into a Beatle without completely re-working the chassis. Autodesk has just been handing out half-baked updates and "features" to fusion 360 users which create more harm than they do good.
I hope so, we have heard Autodesk say FC isn't going anywhere, and unfortunately there actions seem to back that up! The release notes from the last few years, from before the pandemic, don't show much in the way of movement from the user perspective.
FC is a great tool for many types of parts on mills and lathes, and we have lots of programs created quickly and efficiently with it, however the pay-to-play license scheme, lack of innovation and bug fixes as well as other changes since the Autodesk purchase have us making the painful decision to move to another platform.
I will likely not experience improvements in FC because we've ended maintenance but I'd like to have seen: More high speed machining strategies, continuous spiral type toolpaths, large file performance improvements, working on files with hundreds of holes or certain surface milling strategies on large surfaces is so slow i rant about it.
Esprit is a great piece of software, don't get me wrong. The cost is ridiculously high. Posts cost a ton, and they're supposed to be "certified" but if you ask around, every esprit shop will tell you horror stories about their posts.
Their simulation is fake as well. If you run the simulation in esprit, it might look good. Run the actual g-code through NCSimul and you'll see a very different outcome. It's a problem that Hexagon even knows about.
If you own numerous machine types, you're going to need tons of cash. We have milling, live tool lathes, and mill-turn machines in the shop. We would have to buy 3 separate modules to do 3D surfacing on all of the machines. Ballpark price would be about 20-25k for that, and then that's for one singular seat of the software. If you have two seats? you'll need to buy that 20-25k set of modules for both. So the pricing is really really high for esprit.
Then the functionality... I could write a novel about the differences, but at the end of the day, Esprit and Featurecam are apples and oranges in terms of what they do well. I really find that Featurecam does the same things esprit can do, but without any of the headaches or silly workflows. It's honestly so much easier to work with, especially if you're trying to fine-tune a program and squeeze efficiency out of a machine.
