Hi...I'm currently onboarding users working from home to our new VPN solution. Users are reporting getting logged out from the soft phones intermittently several times a day when using the VPN. Some days it works with no issues, other days the problem occurs. It's not consistent with any particular user either. After enabling logging on one of the softphones, we notice a 'Watchdog timer expired' message around the time of the logout.

The Avaya system is using Unistim traffic for signalling between the soft phone client and the server (which I understand is a pretty old protocol?). Soft phone model on user devices is Avaya IP softphone 2050

The IP Softphone 2050 for Windows PC transforms your PC into a full-featured platform which can now offer real-time, feature-rich voice communications along with support of data communications. The IP Softphone 2050 can be used as a primary or supplemental desktop IP Phone whether at the office, at home or on the road. Users simply load the software and plug a Nortel approved headset or handset into the USB Audio Adapter port to start communicating.

This document is intended for Avaya Professional Services associates, BusinessPartners, and customers who use Avaya IP softphones, such as One-X Agent, One-X Attendant, Avaya Flare Experience, or IP Softphone 2050.

Download of Avaya 2050 IP Softphone 4.04.217 was on the developer's website when we last checked. We cannot confirm if there is a free download of this software available. Commonly, this program's installer has the following filename: i2050.exe.

You may want to check out more software, such as Cisco IP SoftPhone, Avaya Integrated Management Administration Tools or Avaya VPN Client, which might be related to Avaya 2050 IP Softphone.

Does anyone know of an app that will work for andriod that will allow me to connect and make phone calls on my ip office? I only want to do this at work so as I am walking around the office I can make calls. My phone is on the local wifi, and the avaya softphone software for the pc works just fine on the wifi so I figured this should work. I have tried One-X Mobile but it would not connect, so if this is the app I should use how do I configure it to connect to the ip office here.

I would do this but I don't have a phone jack at my desk, which is why I use the softphone. It just seems like there should be some type of app that will do the same thing the soft phone does on my pc. I will talk with my avaya rep to see if I have this license. If anyone has any other apps that might connect like the desk softphone app please chime in. There has to be a way to do this.

No need to have a physical phone, if you have an extension go into the user tab in ip office, go to your account, go to the mobility tab, check the box that says Mobility Features, check the box that syas Mobile Twinning and put your cell phone number in there, include the dial out number plus the 1(area code) rest of phone number. Ensure that Twin when logged out, forwarded calls eligible for mobile twinning and hunt group calls eligible for mobile twinning are all checked. I usually have a mobile dial delay of 2 seconds but it can be as short as 0 so the call hits your softphone and your cell phone at the same time.

You do need a license though for your ip office. It's called a 3rd party sip endpoint license. With this on your ip office...you can use virtually any SIP soft phone. My favourite is the 3cx softphone and Bria.
