is this project defunct now that freeguipy is coming along?

Im a little hesitant to install this for our company if freeguipy is coming out soon and this will no longer be supported, can I get some clarification ?

Any idea on this?
I found https://github.com/regularex/FreeGUIPy, but it appears stale.
I'm not sure about other GUIs ... ?
