Sorry - the PDF got corrupted somehow in the 3.6 release. We will
issue a new PDF with the next release.

Is there any chance of recovery of that manual ? Or atleast basic
coding structure for now to get started with FreeMat.

Btw, is code syntax exactly similar to Matlab ? Or like Scilab, it is
different considerably in spite of being a Matlab clone ?

The PDF contains the same thing as the Help (if you install FreeMat
and type 'helpwin'), and it is
also published online:
see Documentation menu item from the FreeMat website:
http://freemat.sourceforge.net/

i.e. this URL:
http://freemat.sourceforge.net/help/index.html

It is the same to Matlab. Not all core Matlab functions are
implemented yet,
but those implemented are very compatible (we strive 100%
compatibility).

You can always look at the 3.5 PDF:

http://freemat.sourceforge.net/FreeMat-3.5.pdf

And FreeMat is nearly exactly the same syntax as Matlab. The 4.0
release is aimed at eliminating the remaining differences.
