Have I introduced myself yet?

Hi, I'm Noah. I'm a novice with Ruby on Rails development, but I'd
like to make Freehub work for the Third Hand Bike Co-op in Columbus.

I hope to be able to review the code to the point where I can
understand it -- would this group be a good place to post questions I
have?

Hey Noah.

I imagine this is the best place for questions. I'm also new to Ruby but I think it should be easy to pick up if you know how to program. I got freehub going on my server pretty quickly by following the instructions on the trac page. I'm hoping to add a few features specific to our needs (hopefully generic enough to be useful for other bike co-ops).

Alon, the main freehub developer, appears to be out for most of January (per his message to the SF Kitchen's list). I dunno if he'll pop in to check email or not. I'm also hoping this is a good place to ask questions (see my previous message to the list).

Hey all,

Writing from Kochin in Kerala state, India. Yes, please use this list
for questions and comments.

Regarding Scott's questions about users, this is an area that I have
left very simple for now because I didn't know what the right model
for different orgs would be. For now, there is just one user per
organization that can do everything (reports, sign in, add/edit/remove
people,...)

I expect that this is insufficient in the long term, but what is the
approach that is most likely to support different shops? I'd love to
hear your thoughts on this, especially if you can imagine incremental
steps to an ideal.

For example, Freehub could support multiple users for an organization,
all of whom can do everything. Then we could add the concept of
roles/permissions to limit what different users can do.

I'm checking email very infrequently but look forward to getting in to
this in February.
