Tomorrow, at Strathclyde university our fellow students will be
marching as their senate meets to discuss plans to slash applied
music, geography, sociology and community education. They're meeting
at 1pm at the Rotten Row Gardens on Richmond St.
20 weeks into our occupation its crunch time on the reason we're here
- to fight for free, accessible, democratic education where decisions
are made by and for academic reasons, not just to suit the interests
of the few. Please join us if you can.

March on the University Court: stop the cuts!
AS THE UNI COURT VOTES ON THE CUTS, JOIN THE MARCH TO SAVE NURSING,
DACE, SLAVONIC STUDIES & HUMANITIES AT CRICHTON CAMPUS!
Although many of the destructive cuts that the University of Glasgow’s
senior management proposed in February have been defeated, the
country’s only centre for Slavonic Studies, the only humanities course
available in Dumfries, the Centre for Drug-Misuse Research are all
still threatened with closure, while the Department for Adult and
Continuing Education faces losing its public funding and Nursing has
merely been granted a year’s reprieve thus far.
These proposals, the first £3m of planned £20m 'savings' over the next
three years, will change the face of the university forever, and
sparked uproar across Scottish society when they were announced, with
2000 joining a demonstration at the uni.
Following a flawed consultation process - which was slammed by the
SRC, the University Senate, trade unions and even the Scottish
Government - the University Court will make its final decision on what
courses, jobs and departments are to be cut at its next meeting at 2pm
on Wednesday 22 June.
It is essential that as many students, staff and supporters come out
for a huge show of force against the cuts on the day.
All out on 22 June!

Killing Us Softly 4 film Showing and Discussion
In this new, highly anticipated update of her pioneering Killing Us
Softly series, the first in more than a decade, Jean Kilbourne takes a
fresh look at how advertising traffics in distorted and destructive
ideals of femininity. The film marshals a range of new print and
television advertisements to lay bare a stunning pattern of damaging
gender stereotypes -- images and messages that too often reinforce
unrealistic, and unhealthy, perceptions of beauty, perfection, and
sexuality. By bringing Kilbourne's groundbreaking analysis up to date,
Killing Us Softly 4 stands to challenge a new generation of students
to take advertising seriously, and to think critically about popular
culture and its relationship to sexism, eating disorders, and gender
violence.

the FH beforehand. There will be an anonymous suggestions box where
you can write questions or thoughts to be included in the discussion,

Emma Goldman birthday / Anarchism 101
Everything You Wanted to Know About Anarchism
In the movement against the state's cuts and, in particular, in the
context of the student demonstrations Anarchism has become something
of a hot topic.
And that it should be!
Unfortunately the various people talking about anarchism tend to be
either extremely ignorant of what it is or have a vested interest in
misrepresenting it.
If you would like to find out more about what anarchism is, what it is
that anarchists want and how they intend to get it then come along to
the Free Hetherington to find out.
All genuinely interested people are more than welcome.
