1)  Palestine: Israeli ethnic cleansing ops in Gaza intensify as Rubio arrives to brown-nose
Source: Associated Press

“U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was in Israel on Sunday …. Rubio said before the trip that he would seek answers from Israeli officials about their view of a path forward in Gaza, following Israel’s attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar last week that upended efforts to broker an end to the conflict. … On Sunday, at least 13 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded in Israeli strikes across Gaza, according to local hospitals. … The Israeli military destroyed three high-rise buildings Sunday after warning residents to evacuate. One building, part of the Islamic University in Gaza City, was struck twice and flattened. Al-Shifa hospital reported casualties, but couldn’t confirm how many, saying some bodies remain trapped inside. … Separately, two Palestinian adults died of causes related to malnutrition and starvation in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours, the territory’s Health Ministry reported Sunday.” (09/15/25)

2)  Myanmar: Students Killed at Boarding School as Junta Escalates Air War
Source: US News & World Report

“A Myanmar military airstrike on a school last week killed at least 19 students, an ethnic militia said, as the war-torn nation’s ruling junta steps up a campaign to retake territory ahead of a planned election in December. Children were killed and injured at the boarding school in Kyauktaw Township in Myanmar’s restive Rakhine state, the U.N. children’s agency UNICEF said in a statement. It did not say how many were killed in the incident, but the Arakan Army, a militia battling the military in the western state, said at least 19, aged between 15 and 21, had died.” 909/15/25)

3)  Ukraine war briefing: Railway attacks disrupt Russian supply lines
Source: The Guardian [UK]

“A source in Ukrainian military intelligence confirmed it was behind two attacks on railways that left three Russian national guard officers dead. The soldiers died when a bomb blew up a section of track in Russia’s western Oryol region late on Saturday, said the local Russian governor, Andrei Klychkov. The source in Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence told AFP that in another attack, tanker carriages were ‘destroyed along with their fuel.’ A Russian official confirmed the derailment of freight train carrying 15 fuel tankers between the villages of Stroganovo and Mshinskaya. … The Ukrainians said they also carried out a drone attack on a chemicals factory producing ingredients for explosives in Russia’s Perm region, more than 1,500km from the border between the two countries. … Ukrainian drones set the Kirishi oil refinery in Russia’s north-west on fire, Russian officials said on Sunday, reporting no injuries.” (09/15/25)

4)  US-based pirates “inspect” Venezuelan fishing boat
Source: ABC News

“The Venezuelan government accused U.S. personnel of boarding and occupying a civilian fishing boat on Friday, in the latest example of tensions as the U.S. carries out ‘counter narco-terror operations’ in the Caribbean. A U.S. official told ABC News that Coast Guard personnel stationed aboard the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Jason Dunham searched the fishing boat for drugs following a tip but did not locate any contraband. Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry office claimed Saturday that the U.S. Navy deployed ‘eighteen personnel with long-range weapons who boarded and occupied’ the Venezuelan fishing vessel in waters within Venezuela’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).” (09/13/25)

5)  Turkey: Tens of thousands protest against legal crackdown on main opposition party
Source: Reuters

“Tens of thousands of people protested in the capital Ankara on Sunday against a court case that could oust the head of the main opposition on Monday after a year-long legal crackdown on hundreds of its members. Live footage showed crowds chanting for President Tayyip Erdogan’s resignation while waving Turkish flags and party banners. The court decision on Monday whether to invalidate the 2023 congress of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) over alleged procedural irregularities could reshape the party, rattle financial markets and influence the timing of a general election set for 2028. The court could also delay the ruling. Speaking at Sunday’s rally, CHP leader Ozgur Ozel said the government was trying to cling to power by undermining democratic norms and suppressing dissent following opposition victories in local elections over the past year. Ozel also called for a snap general election.” 909/14/25)

6)  Penske files frivolous lawsuit vs. Google for AI overviews
Source: CNN

“The owner of Rolling Stone, Billboard and Variety sued Google on Friday, alleging the technology giant’s AI summaries use its journalism without consent and reduce traffic to its websites. The lawsuit by Penske Media in federal court in Washington, DC, marks the first time a major US publisher has taken Alphabet-owned Google to court over the AI-generated summaries that now appear on top of its search results. News organizations have for months said the new features, including Google’s ‘AI Overviews,’ siphon traffic away from their sites, eroding advertising and subscription revenue.” [editor’s note: And if I read and verbally summarize a story to my neighbor, that neighbor might also just take my word for it instead of reading the story himself. 7)  China: Regime launches probes targeting US semiconductors ahead of Madrid trade talks
Source: SFGate

“China launched two probes targeting the U.S. semiconductor sector Saturday ahead of talks between the two nations in Spain this week on trade, national security and the ownership of social media platform TikTok. China’s Ministry of Commerce announced an anti-dumping investigation into certain analog IC chips imported from the U.S. The investigation will target some commodity interface IC chips and gate driver IC chips, which are commonly made by U.S. companies such as Texas Instruments and ON Semiconductor. The ministry separately announced an anti-discrimination probe into U.S. measures against China’s chip sector. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is set to meet Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in Madrid between Sunday and Wednesday, He’s office said. U.S. measures such as export curbs and tariffs ‘constitute the containment and suppression of China’s development of high-tech industries’ such as advanced computer chips and artificial intelligence, a Chinese commerce ministry spokesperson said.” (09/13/25)

9)  Months after they debated face-to-face, Oxford Union president-elect to be disciplined for mocking Charlie Kirk’s death
Source: New York Post

“The student president-elect of the vaunted Oxford Union debate society will be disciplined for heartlessly celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk, whom he debated just months ago. Oxford student George Abaraonye, who is the president of the historic debate club founded in 1823, callously cheered when he heard Kirk was shot and killed — and is now facing the repercussions. ‘Charlie Kirk got shot, let’s f–king go,’ Abaraonye, 20, posted on WhatsApp on Wednesday. In another message on Instagram, he wrote, ‘Charlie Kirk got shot loool.'” (09/13/25)

10) Trump regime launches trial program to fast-track electric air taxis
Source: National Public Radio [US state media]

“The Trump administration has unveiled a pilot program to accelerate the use of electric air taxis, a move aimed at establishing U.S. dominance in airspace technology. … The program will include at least five pilot projects and will run for three years after the first project is up and running, the department said. The program will also include piloted and unmanned operations that focus on electric air taxis, also called an electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft or eVTOL, that can help with delivering cargo and supplies. The aircraft will also be used to test their effectiveness in emergency situations, such as airlift and medical transport.” (09/13/25)

11) Trump’s travel ban keeping international students from coming to the US for college
Source: SFGate

“With the Taliban barring women from college in her native Afghanistan, Bahara Saghari set her sights on pursuing higher education in the United States. Saghari, 21, practiced English up to eight hours per day for several years, eventually winning an offer to study business administration at a private liberal arts college in Illinois. She was hoping to arrive this fall, but her plans were derailed again, this time by President Donald Trump’s travel ban. ‘You think that finally you are going to your dream, and then something came up and like, everything’s just gone,’ Saghari said. Thousands of students are among the people affected by the Trump administration’s travel ban and restrictions on citizens from 19 countries, including many who now feel stranded after investing considerable time and money to come to the U.S.” (09/13/25)

12) Fraudulent Texas unemployment filings caused national spike
Source: Axios

“A massive spike in jobless claims on Thursday heightened fears of a swift labor market deterioration — but it turns out many of those claims were fake. The big jump, which took national claims to a four-year high and jolted financial markets, was a result of attempted fraudulent unemployment filings in Texas. Minutes after the report, economists flagged that the overall spike in weekly claims was a result of an unusual surge in Texas — a quirk some attributed to holiday effects or the state’s flood disaster claims program. But now the state’s labor office, which reports the data to the national Labor Department, said it was a direct result of fraudulent attempts to collect unemployment benefits.” (09/12/25)

13) Paramount rejects Israeli film boycott supported by Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix & 4,000 others
Source: Fox News

“After nearly 4,000 industry figures signed a pledge vowing not to work with Israeli film institutions, Paramount issued a statement rejecting the boycott on Thursday. ‘At Paramount, we believe in the power of storytelling to connect and inspire people, promote mutual understanding, and preserve the moments, ideas, and events that shape the world we share. This is our creative mission,’ reads a statement issued by Paramount chief communications officer Melissa Zukerman. ‘We do not agree with recent efforts to boycott Israeli filmmakers. Silencing individual creative artists based on their nationality does not promote better understanding or advance the cause of peace. The global entertainment industry should be encouraging artists to tell their stories and share their ideas with audiences throughout the world. We need more engagement and communication — not less.'” (09/13/25)

14) UN General Assembly votes to back two-state solution for Israel and Palestine
Source: euronews [EU]

“The United Nations General Assembly overwhemingly backed a nonbinding solution on Friday supporting a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine, hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the idea of a Palestinian state. Out of the 193-member world body, 142 countries voted in favour on the New York Declaration, 10 against and 12 abstained. The resolution, presented by France and Saudi Arabia, envisions the Palestinian Authority (PA) governing and in control of all Palestinian territory, with a transitional administrative committee immediately established after a ceasefire in Gaza. ‘Hamas must end its rule in Gaza and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority,’ the declaration says, adding that it must also free all hostages.” (09/13/25)

15) CA: Controversial nonstick pan ban clears critical hurdle
Source: SFGate

“The California State Assembly narrowly approved a controversial bill Friday evening that would ban popular nonstick cookware products from being sold in the state starting in 2030. The measure bans cookware containing perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, more commonly referred to as PFAS, from being sold in the state. It would also ban any new ‘cleaning product, dental floss, juvenile product, food packaging, or ski wax’ that contains PFAS from being sold starting in 2028. The Assembly approved the measure in a 41 to 19 vote, with 20 assemblymembers not voting. The bill still needs a final concurrence vote in the Senate before it can be sent to Gov. Gavin Newsom for his signature to make it law. Isabella Jimenez, a spokesperson for Assemblymember Damon Connolly, who was managing the proposal, told SFGATE in an email that their office expects the bill to pass that vote.” (09/13/25)

16) Sean Astin Elected President of SAG-AFTRA, Taking Over for Fran Drescher
Source: Variety

“Sean Astin, the star of ‘Rudy,’ ‘Goonies’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ was elected Friday to be president of SAG-AFTRA, succeeding Fran Drescher. Astin was part of a slate dubbed ‘The Coalition,’ a unity ticket that included members of the historical rival factions within the union as well as some who were unaffiliated with either side. He defeated Chuck Slavin, a member of the union’s New England local board, who had run a dissident campaign. … Astin takes a job once held by his late mother, Patty Duke, who was president of the Screen Actors Guild, the predecessor union, from 1985-88. Astin has been heavily involved in SAG-AFTRA politics for the last six years, and served on the negotiating committee during the four-month actors’ strike in 2023.” (09/12/25)

17) House of Prayer church leaders indicted for alleged $22 million fraud scheme targeting military vets
Source: Fox News

“Federal prosecutors have indicted the founder and several leaders of the House of Prayer Christian Churches of America, accusing the Georgia-based ministry of running a decades-long, $22 million fraud scheme that targeted U.S. military members and veterans. Following the indictment, the FBI on Wednesday conducted a raid near Augusta, Georgia, arresting leaders after years of allegations that the church operated like a cult and preyed on military communities nationwide. FBI Atlanta public affairs specialist Jenna Sellitto confirmed to Fox News Digital it carried out a raid at a home in Columbia County, Georgia, and made authorized arrests related to the church investigation. Sellitto said she could not immediately release the identities of those taken into custody. The charges come after the FBI in June 2022 raided at least three churches associated with the House of Prayer Christian Churches in Georgia and Texas, established just miles from Fort Gordon, Fort Stewart and Fort Hood.” (09/13/25)

“More than 100,000 demonstrators packed London streets Saturday for a march organized by far-right activist Tommy Robinson. The ‘Unite the Kingdom’ rally got underway as much smaller numbers of counterprotesters, organized by the Stand Up To Racism group, gathered under the banner of the ‘March Against Fascism.’ … Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and is known for his nationalist and anti-migrant views, billed the march as a demonstration for free speech, and also said it was in defense of British heritage and culture.” (09/13/25)

19) California’s redistricting Proposition 50 could hinge on Arnold Schwarzenegger
Source: SFGate

“Arnold Schwarzenegger has spent the better part of the past decade out of politics, but California’s fight over redistricting has suddenly thrust the Hollywood star and former governor back into the arena as the Republicans clamor for his help. As California governor Schwarzenegger helped create a nonpartisan process in 2010 to draw ‘fair and equal’ congressional district lines that Gov. Gavin Newsom is now attempting to temporarily dismantle. Republicans are hoping the former bodybuilder can help convince people to vote against Newsom’s Proposition 50, the November ballot measure that asks voters to approve the new Democrat-favoring map, a last-ditch attempt to counter gerrymandering taking place in Texas. Schwarzenegger is, according to one poll, the most popular Republican in the country, and Republican strategists have said the former bodybuilder is ‘uniquely positioned’ to fight Prop. 50 and that ‘it would be huge’ to have Schwarzenegger directly on the campaign.” (09/13/25)

Source: Fox 11 Los Angeles

“The call of a possible shooting came out at 10 a.m. Friday in the 12000 block of Oxnard Street, near Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Grant High School, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. A neighbor said the suspect used a shopping cart to climb through a window in the apartment. The suspect then came face to face with the homeowner, and they began fighting. According to police, the homeowner warned the suspect that he had a gun, but the intruder refused to stop, and pushed his way into the kitchen. That’s when the resident shot him in the chest. The man ran away, but eventually appeared at an emergency room nearby. He was transported to Northridge where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest.” (09/12/25)

21) Charlie Kirk: This Too Shall Pass, Unfortunately
Source: Garrison Center
by Thomas L Knapp

“Despite this last week’s fevered comparisons of the killing to the killings of JFK, RFK, MLK, and 3,000-plus people on 9/11, Kirk’s life and death, and his killer’s, are likely destined, within a few short years, to become the material of minor footnotes in dry historical texts. Kirk and his killer are this past week’s, maybe this year’s, Brian Thompson and Luigi Mangione. Yes, their notoriety will persist for more than the usual short news cycle, with bumps during associated court cases, etc., but none of them were so wildly noteworthy before their tragic interactions that they’ll be universally remembered a decade, let alone a century, hence. That thought might comfort you. It shouldn’t.” (09/13/25)

22) Beware the Merchants of Rage
Source: Yascha Mounk
by Yascha Mounk

“Over the past years, horrible acts of political violence have targeted prominent Americans of every political hue. Even so, much of the right has seized upon this moment to insist on a Manichean worldview. Senior figures made clear that they would use Kirk’s killing as a justification for unprecedented forms of repression …. Meanwhile, much of the left has been searching for reasons why they should not need to have sympathy for an outspoken political adversary like Kirk. … In fact, the one thing that nobody seems able to tolerate at this moment is any indication whatsoever that anyone on the other side of the political spectrum may be a somewhat decent person.” (09/13/25)

23) Taking the Constitution Seriously
Source: Antiwar.com
by Andrew P Napolitano

“Last week, the President of the United States did not take the Constitution seriously. He ordered the murders of 11 people who were riding in a speedboat in the Caribbean Sea around 1,300 miles from the U.S. Afterward he said he did so because he believed that they were members of a ‘narco-terrorist gang’ and were delivering illegal drugs to America. He also did so, he said, as a ‘message’ to other drug dealers who should fear a similar fate. … When he was asked for the legal authority for these killings, President Donald Trump replied that these folks were waging war on the U.S., and, because he is the president of the United States, he can do as he wishes to them. These are constitutionally ignorant, morally repugnant, profoundly erroneous responses from a person who has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution.” (09/12/25)

24) Brainrot, Not Ideology
Source: Quillette
by Claire Lehmann

“Whether Robinson’s online milieu tilted left may end up being beside the point. What matters is the profile: a socially adrift 22-year-old dropout searching for meaning online. In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the task is not to pin a tidy ideology on the act, but to confront the scourge of online brainrot. … As video game critic Superjoost notes about Roblox — one of the world’s most popular online game platforms — the most powerful communities don’t aim for mass appeal; they cultivate experiences that ‘deliberately exclude outsiders,’ producing worlds that look ‘frenetic, chaotic, and nonsensical to anyone who’s not in on it.’ According to this critic, the chaos is the point.” (09/13/25)

25) The Severe Downsides of “Transhumanism” Paranoia
Source: The American Conservative
by Scott Greer

“Conservatives have long struggled to find an ideological enemy to replace communism. It’s easier to define yourself when you know what you’re up against. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and others want transhumanism to be that defining foe. But transhumanism is a fringe notion that looms larger in the minds of conservatives than it does in reality. It is not the great threat that faces the country. It simply makes for a good enemy to advance a ‘respectable’ form of right-wing populism.” (09/12/25)

26) Letting landlords cover costs is common sense; Mamdani’s plan will only worsen renting madness
Source: New York Post
by staff

“Not only is a disastrous 2019 state law pushing rent-regulated units off the market by the tens of thousands, the city’s efforts to get those ‘zombie’ apartments on the market have stalled — and Zohran Mamdani’s rent freeze promises to make the crisis even worse. Six years ago, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the ‘Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act’ into law, making it impossible for landlords ever to recoup the cost of bringing units up to code (as other laws require) when a tenant moves out after decades. Such repairs and upgrades can easily cost $100,000 or more; pre-2019, the building owner could hike the rent to finance the work — but no more, so now thousands of apartments fall off the market every year.” (09/13/25)

27) Trump’s State Terrorism Against Venezuela Will Endanger American Lives
Source: The UnPopulist
by Steve Chapman

“Venezuela may be in no position to challenge America militarily, but the same can’t be said of China. In a world where Beijing’s power is steadily growing, Trump’s brazen savagery erodes the barriers represented by international law. It’s likely to make Americans in international spaces more vulnerable to being blown up by hostile powers. But Trump claiming the right to designate any people he chooses as terrorists and enemies — and then to kill them at will — is a grave threat to Americans for another reason as well: If he can use lethal force against a boat allegedly carrying illegal drugs and drug traffickers, it’s a small step to doing the same with cars and trucks entering the country from Mexico or Canada — or to unauthorized migrants crossing on foot.” (09/13/25)

The experience has grown extremely expensive, highly and perversely political, often morally degrading, increasingly long, and to varying degrees worthless. The game continues mostly because it delivers status certificates. But even there, the inertia is fading. For most kids, it’s a rotten deal. I’ve long wished that more people were aware of of these facts, but the time wasn’t right … people just weren’t ready. Now I think they are, and as it happens, two of my friends have just finished a fascinating book on the subject. It’s called The Preparation, by Doug Casey and Matt Smith. And, like so many important innovations, it was spawned by necessity.” (09/13/25)

29) ALL Mainstream American Political Pundits Are Evil Scumbags
Source: Caitlin Johnstone, Rogue Journalist
by Caitlin Johnstone

“To be clear I would be just as unmoved if a mainstream Democrat-aligned manipulator like Bill Maher or Joe Scarborough was killed, and I would be just as disdainful of their memory. They are exactly the same to me. I had no strong feelings about Charlie Kirk especially; to me he was just one of the empire’s countless flying monkeys, and his role will be easily filled by the next flying monkey in line. My disdain toward him was of the ordinary blanket variety that I hold toward all the lackeys of the most tyrannical and murderous power structure on our planet, regardless of their political affiliation. … You cannot become a high-level pundit, politician or political operative in either mainstream party without being an evil piece of shit.” [editor’s note: I would still maintain that Kirk’s main agenda was to open up free speech discussion and promote critical thinking in college students – SAT] [additional editor’s note: The former, yes, the latter not so much – TLK] (09/12/25)

31) Aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s death shows how living in our own algorithms is recipe for dystopia
Source: New York Post
by Kirsten Fleming

“Charlie Kirk became one of the most powerful figures in politics because he did something extraordinary in today’s world. He went to college campuses and conversed with young people. Kirk debated folks who vehemently disagreed with him. The devout Christian publicly had good-humored exchanges with a dude dressed in a satanist costume and a number of trans-identifying young adults. He fearlessly welcomed any and all speakers to the microphone. After all, there’s no Block button in the real world. The 31-year-old aimed to persuade and challenge the lefty status quo on college campuses because he knew that intellectual friction is not only entertaining, but necessary to forge a healthier nation. ‘When people stop talking, really bad stuff starts,’ he said when asked by a student why he bothered.” (09/12/25)

32) Threats and Threats and “Threats”
Source: The Dispatch
by Kevin D Williamson

“Not every murder victim is a martyr to some high principle. Kirk was fundamentally and above all things an entrepreneur, one who knew his audience and who was willing to tell its members whatever they wanted to hear at any given moment if doing so increased his donor base and his influence. He was plastic in his political orientation, going from secularist libertarian critic of the Christian right to evangelical-oriented advocate of big-government corporatism without seeming to raise his pulse. His politics were strictly an us-and-them matter, a question of white hats and black hats. Beyond that, he was — and this is uncomfortable to write at this moment, though obviously relevant — himself an apologist for political violence … All of that will matter to how Charlie Kirk is remembered. None of it matters when it comes to the most immediate issue presented by his murder: political violence per se.” (09/13/25)

33) Missouri’s Racist [sic] Gerrymander an Attack on Working Voters
Source: Inequality.org
by Fran Marion

“As a Wendy’s worker, mother of two, and leader with Missouri Workers Center and Stand Up KC in Kansas City, I’ve dedicated my life to fighting for working families. I’ve worked in fast food for over 20 years, and I know what it means to struggle to barely make ends meet while corporations make record profits off our backs. Today, I’m writing as someone who believes deeply in democracy, especially as a group of anti-worker Missouri lawmakers prepare to divide our community so that they can silence our voices, including my own. States usually redraw electoral district boundaries every 10 years following the US Census to account for population shifts and demographic changes. But for political reasons, Texas lawmakers have gone ahead and redrawn their political map. And now several other states, including Missouri, are trying to do the same thing.” (09/13/25)

Source: Libertarian Institute
by Dan Sanchez

“Charlie Kirk’s last word was ‘violence,’ but his last act, before an act of violence took his life, was an act of non-violence: the act of speaking that word. He died doing what he did all his brief adult life: working to persuade others through peaceful, yet powerful, speech. His efforts were not in vain. In fact, he was phenomenally successful.” (09/12/25)

37) He May Have Pulled The Trigger, But Charlie Kirk’s Suspected Killer Didn’t “Act Alone”
Source: The Federalist
by MD Kittle

“After an intensive, multi-day manhunt, law enforcement officials on Friday said they had taken into custody conservative icon Charlie Kirk’s killer. Police assert 22-year-old Tyler Robinson ‘acted alone’ in assassinating the Turning Point USA founder. But did he? Authorities said Robinson’s roommate shared with investigators the alleged cold-blooded killer’s communications on messaging app Discord. In them, the suspect discusses ‘a need to retrieve a rifle from a drop point, leaving the rifle in a bush, messages related to visually watching the area where a rifle was left, and a message referring to having left the rifle wrapped in a towel’. … As The Blaze’s Auron Macintyre put it on X, the shooter appears to have been ‘radicalized by a leftist terrorist network, and it seems like he may have also coordinated with them for the attack.'” (09/12/25)

“In Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s telling, citizenship checks by ICE officers are as straightforward and frictionless as presenting yourself at the entrance to a Costco. Just show a membership card, and you’ll be on your merry way. … The problem is that ICE does not say what it accepts as definitive proof of legal status. Is it a driver’s license? A green card? A folder of immigration documents? Donald Trump’s mass-deportation campaign has swept up U.S. citizens and permanent residents over the past several months, leaving some detained for days despite individuals presenting officers with evidence of their legal status.” (09/12/25)

40) Is Martial Law Coming Next?
Source: CounterPunch
by Stephen F Eisenman

“That martial law will be proclaimed sometime in the next year seems pre-ordained. ICE agents, assisted by state National Guard troops in Los Angeles, Washington, and other Democrat-led cities and states, will round up and arrest undocumented immigrants, dark-skinned and Spanish-speaking legal residents and citizens, and anyone who tries to hinder them. (Suspects may also include anyone holding a submarine sandwich.) If protests grow large or unruly, more troops will be sent, including U.S. Army forces, in direct contravention of the Posse Comitatus Act. In that situation, a national emergency will be proclaimed by executive order, and martial law declared in affected cities, and perhaps nationwide.” (09/12/25)

Source: The American Prospect
by Charlie McGill

“In the Democrats’ ongoing identity crisis, no proposed ‘path forward’ has generated as much internal debate as Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson’s Abundance. Regarded by its proponents as the solution to ineffective Democratic governance and by its opponents as rehashed neoliberalism, the controversy over this book has been rather abstract so far, with debate largely centered on the root causes of ‘scarcity’ (progressive bureaucracy or corporate power?). While the forum for this discourse may be the wonky terrain of zoning reform, financialization, and corporate consolidation, the underlying, fundamental question is far more political: Should the Democrats be the party of economic populism, or the party of center-left technocracy? At the macro level of national political messaging, the economic populists appear to be winning.” (09/13/25)

42) What Makes a Country Ungovernable
Source: Persuasion
by Henri Astier

“Predictable though it was, the collapse of another French government this week was a momentous event. France is burning through prime ministers at an alarming rate: the new incumbent, Sébastien Lecornu, is the fifth in two years. Such instability is unprecedented under the current French constitution, which is predicated on strong executive authority. Some are comparing the current mess to the 1958 crisis that ended the ineffectual Fourth Republic, in which prime ministers lasted six months on average. One seasoned French analyst argued the situation is even worse now, as there is no leader like Charles de Gaulle in the offing to save the day. How did we get here?” (09/12/25)

“First, two children lost their father and a wife her husband. Then people lost their humanity. And now, a nation loses another piece of its soul. This part of the cycle is its own special kind of awful: the cancel culture machine. It goes like this: A tragedy happens. Someone reacts by celebrating that tragedy for whatever reason. Then the social media mob comes to demand this person be fired, expelled, or otherwise punished for their views. Time and time again, we resort to this mob mentality when tragedy strikes.” (09/12/25)

45) Three ways Trump can make campuses safe for conservative speakers
Source: Fox News
by David Marcus

“The beastly assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at a Utah college event this week makes clear, once again, that conservative speakers are not safe on America’s campuses, and that something must be done to change that. The Trump administration has tools in the shed to address this problem, but before we get to that, let’s look at just how bad things have gotten. The term ‘heckler’s veto’ is a relative newcomer in the English language. It was coined in 1965 by University of Chicago law professor Harry Kalven, in his book, The Negro and the First Amendment.’ Kalven was describing how government authorities would deny civil rights protesters the right to assemble because of threats made against them, and because of the costs associated with protecting them from those threats. Hence, the heckler gets to veto the event.” (09/13/25)

46) Hurray for the Industrial Revolution!
Source: Free Association
by Sheldon Richman

“Unbelievably, in 2025, walking among us are people, many of them young and college-educated, who believe the Industrial Revolution (spawned by the liberal Enlightenment) was a disaster for most of mankind. They yearn for what they imagine was the tranquil, plentiful, and happy communalism of the Middle Ages. I’m not referring only to people on the fringes. Glenn Greenwald, the cosmopolitan journalist who has done important reporting on civil liberties and foreign policy, recently lamented the loss of medieval life in a paean to the anti-industrial manifesto (but not the murderous actions) of Ted Kaczinski. He was the Unabomber. What’s shocking is that the data showing what a blessing industrial capitalism has been are readily available.” (09/12/25)

47) Extremist Groups Hated Charlie Kirk. They’re Using His Death to Radicalize Others
Source: Wired
by David Gilbert

“For years, extremist groups, white nationalists, and militias like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers saw Charlie Kirk not as their ally, but as their enemy. Though Kirk denigrated trans people, Muslims, unmarried women, and many minorities and advocated for an America with Christianity at the center of every aspect of life, he was, in their view, a moderate. For some, his staunch support of Israel’s government made Kirk a target rather than a friend. But in the immediate aftermath of Kirk being fatally shot while speaking at a Turning Point USA event Wednesday at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, these same groups were quick to frame the incident as an attack on one of their own, portraying Kirk’s death as part of what they see as an ongoing war against white, Christian men.” (09/12/25)

“Trump knows that there is a rebellion among his MAGA supporters over the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump is still dead-set against letting the general public see those files. The general public, including many of Trump’s MAGA supporters, are insisting on the release of the files. So, what happens when this type of collision takes place? The answer is simple: Follow what the Roman emperors did when they were in that position: Just start a foreign war. At the very least, that will ensure that Trump’s MAGA supporters will hop to, click their heels, salute, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, sing the Star Spangled Banner, rally to the president, thank the troops for their service, pray for victory, and totally forget about Jeffrey Epstein.” (09/12/25)

49) From Gaza to Yemen to Doha, Will Israel Ever Be Held to Account for Its Terrorism?
Source: Common Dreams
by Medea Benjamin

“Responding to Israel’s September 10 attack aimed at Hamas negotiators in Qatar, all 12 members of the UN Security Council issued a toothless statement of condemnation that didn’t even mention Israel by name. This cowardly response underscores the pathetic international reaction to nearly two years of genocide. Israel believes it can do whatever it wants, wherever it wants, with no consequences–which has been true for two years now. It has already destroyed Gaza. It is expanding settlements, annexing the West Bank, threatening Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Iran. It has attacked aid flotillas, bombed refugee camps, and assassinated negotiators. Now it has bombed a U.S.-allied Gulf capital. And still, the world hesitates.” (09/13/25)

50) The Great Bypass: How the Constitution Was Built to Sideline the States
Source: Tenth Amendment Center
by Michael Boldin

“‘This Constitution does not attempt to coerce sovereign bodies, states, in their political capacity.’ With that one sentence, future Chief Justice Oliver Ellsworth identified the single most important and least understood feature of the Constitution. It wasn’t just a stronger version of the Articles of Confederation. It was a completely different system. The principle driving this radical shift was simple: government would be based on ‘We the People,’ not ‘We the States.’ The Constitution was intentionally designed to bypass the states. And that truth is almost never taught today.” (09/12/25)
