Hi,
the MQTT plugin is only a demo to show howto interact with this protocol.
It can be extended to subscribe many topics and send events with the "only" MQTT message payload. No need to reconfigure the devices.

If you are a programmer you could work on that with our help.

Thanks
Mauro

Ogg: [freedomotic] Anyone using MQTT?

I just installed FD and am looking for information on the MQTT client plugin.  I have a bunch of my own sensors and controls that I've built and they all operate using MQTT... As such I have my own broker set up (mosquitto) and have pointed the FD MQTT client plugin to bind to my broker.  It says it's connected.

Now I want to understand the format of the topic string and data.  Reading plugins/devices/mqttclient/Mqtt.java, it would appear that I need to go around to my many dozens of devices that are strewn around my property and reconfigure them all to send MQTT messages in a specific format for FD?  That seems unnecessarily labor intensive...  I would also assume there are other MQTT devices that can not be  reconfigured...

Am I understanding correctly?

(If I'm correct, then it would seem the best course of action is to write an MQTT client that subscribes to all events and re-publishes messages formatted correctly for FD)...

I apologize.  I thought I had deleted that post as I had gotten MQTT to work (somewhat) shortly writing the post.    I'm experiencing a memory leak issue now (see other thread)...

No problem.
If you want you can share your code to make the plugin more "general"
