How does Freeeed deal with encrypted files like an encrypted PST for example? I've tried running a few password protected files through and it seems like the application crashes. Is there something I need to do to prevent this?

After a little more testing it seems that it doesn't like password encrypted zips. Basically there are a bunch of java errors and then the application stops responding.

Alan,

This is true. No password operations. In your case, would you want to

unencrypt
provide credentials (harder)
break encryption (yet harder still)

Ok, is there anyway to allow the application to skip a password encrypted file and continue processing? It kind of just hangs.

In the examples of PDF protected files that I had, it would record the reason for exception and continue. If you can send a sample, I will test

Attached is a password protected zip. The password is test if you need it.
Some document.zip

Do you state it or run as is?

I meant, is it inside a zip file when you stage it?

I staged it. So basically I selected that zip as a source to be processed.

I need to think what to do. Staging zip files directly is a shortcut, to save time from zipping them up into yet another archive. I could just document that and not allow to stage encrypted file

Will that prevent it from hanging when it hits an encrypted zip? If it just logged it and moved on that would be fine. Right now it stops processing altogether even though there are other files that need to be processed.

Yes it will but I need to test and document. Can you unencrypt?

Yeah, I can do that in this case.

One other question for you. Are there limitations on the size of a PST you can run? I have a pretty big one and it's giving me a time out error after extraction. It says the ZipFileProcessor timed out but according to the logs it was able to extract it without an issue and after the call to run readpst is when the error is displayed. Is there a way to adjust the timeout? That's probably the easiest thing to do.

That is a known but and it is fixed in the current build. But the current build is not released yet. I can send you a jar. And I really should speed up the release :)

The new jar work well and runs a lot longer before it times out. Looks like it is set to 10 minutes. Is there a way to easily change the timeout or is it baked into the code?

Ok got it. I see there are a number of new things in this build. Very excited about it. As an FYI, it doesn't look like the "Read files Directly" setting saves. I realize this hasn't been officially released but just wanted to make sure you knew about it. Thanks for your help!!!
