jg running Google Search - congratulations!

For those who haven't heard John Giannandrea (jg) has been promoted to run all of Search for Google. jg was one of the founders of Metaweb and ran engineering for them before the Google acquisition. He's had other big promotions at Google, but this is, to my mind, a huge promotion. Congratulations!


In other news, the "migration" of Freebase data to Wikidata hit a major milestone recently and over 100,000 facts have now been imported - only 3,197,500,000 to go! :-)

Congratulations Jg! I wanted to be in a band until I saw your talk in 2008. Props to google for recognizing such an inspiring, well-reasoned person.

and yeah, we'd have the most amazing semantic-web if only the finger didn't get so tired. What a small-minded solution. Boo
