I know it was discussed before sometime ago, so I created a user draft type to use for "Fictional People Groups" or "Fictional Character Groups" it can be used for any small fictional character grouping, and does not matter how you swing it, the Group is comprised of Fictional Characters..."a group of imaginary characters with a group name" or "a group of imaginary characters based-on real people"

It is modeled after Iain's collective of People for small groups http://www.freebase.com/schema/base/collectives/people

Here's "Huey, Louie, and Dewey" (now correctly split off from their main group topic):

Thoughts for Commons addition ? or is something similar brewing in the pot ?

Hi Thad,

Doesn't this overlap with "Organization in fiction"?
e.g. http://www.freebase.com/view/en/avengers (a fairly small grouping).

When would we use one rather than the other?

Luke.

I would think that would be obvious...  "Wonder Twins Power..... ACTIVATE !" :)

The Super Friends (aka Justice League of America aka Justice League) is the "Organization in fiction" which is part of the Fictional Universe "DC Universe" and contains at least 1 small Fictional Character Group it could be argued, "The Wonder Twins" which consisted of 2 pointy eared aliens called Zan and Jayna, where both Zan and Jayna are siblings and each one is a part of the Fictional Character Group http://www.freebase.com/view/en/wonder_twins/-/user/thadguidry/default_domain

Previously, before I just cleaned up the "Wonder Twins" topic, we had the topic typed as a Fictional Character and Comic Book Character.  Same goes for Huey, Louie, and Dewey Duck.

The Avengers is perhaps 2 or more different entities.  The TV Series, the Fictional Character Group, and if you wanted to stretch it, perhaps you also then link the Fictional Character Group to a particular "Organization in Fiction" ?, I just do not know which "Organization in Fiction" that The Avengers would belong to, however.

Luke, Ah wait... I thought you had actually pointed to THIS Fictional Duo of the British TV Series... http://www.freebase.com/view/en/the_avengers

See the problem there as well, however... How does one easily make the Fictional Duo "The Avengers" and say that Cathy Gale the fictional character http://www.freebase.com/view/en/cathy_gale was part of a Fictional Character Group "The Avengers" for a span of time.... so perhaps Fictional Character Group also needs a From / To ?

Hmm....I defer to...Jeff !!!!! :)

Definitely good to clean up topics that actually represent multiple fictional characters.  I'm still not clear how a user would know when to use Fictional Character Group and when to use Organization in Fiction: is the Group less organized?  Would a fictional couple be a Group but a fictional agency be an Organization?  What about Angel Investigations - would they be an Organization since they had paying customers (as well as being friends), while the Scooby Gang on Buffy would be a Group?

Luke.

I would say that the Scooby Gang is fairly "organized" and that alone immediately qualifies it for use as an "Organization in Fiction".  Sure, in Season 1, it had a few members, but that changed over time to grow.  There are squads and their leaders, each knowing their strengths and weaknesses, etc. and eventually merging (or being affiliated, depending on someone's analysis) into the Watcher's Council

Fictional Character Group is really saying Fictional Character "Small" Group where the small typically means under 4-5 and there is no "organizing"  like my examples of "The Wonder Twins" or "Huey, Louie, Dewey"..... basically ask the question "If I saw the type "Organization in Fiction" on this fictional group, would it make me uncomfortable seeing that ?... if YES, then that's the time to use Fictional Character Group.

Perhaps "Group" name is not the best... Fictional Character Grouping ?  or Fictional Character Party ?  Fictional Character Cluster ?  Fictional Character Pack ?  Fictional Character Assemblage ?

Open for suggestions on the name.  But keeping the Fictional Character part is very important.
