I've saved a state or two in Plus42 Android.  I'd like to delete one of these that has no future value.   The 'Main Menu/States' category shows 'New' and "Import' functions but no 'Delete'.  I've searched my Android 16 Internal Storage and can't seem to find a 'State' folder nor an object with the name of my saved state.  How do I delete saved states?

You can delete files using Main Menu -> File Import & Export -> Delete File or Directory. States are stored in files with .p42 file extensions.

Note that's for deleting files of all types, not just states. But you can also delete states from within the States dialog: If you go to Main Menu -> States, and then select a state, then press More, the States Menu will include a Delete option. But note that you cannot delete the currently loaded state.

Got it.  I was trying to delete the current state (I know better now) and was looking for a delete option on the state menu for that state.

Plus42 on Android - can you find the files shown in Plus42/File Management Menu by a standard search of Android storage or are they only accessable through the app?

On Android, state files, and also other files used or generated by Plus42, are stored in the app's private storage (/data/data/<appid>/files). They have to be, in order for the app to be able to access them without user intervention. I don't know how to do a "standard search of Android storage" so I don't know whether that would find files in private storage -- I'm not really all that familiar with Android, my daily driver is iOS.

On my Pixel 8 Pro (Android 16) I have the folder 'internal shared storage/Android/data/com.thomasokken.plus42/files' but while I have states stored on my phone the 'files' folder is empty.  That's why the issue of deleting arose - I couldn't find anything with the name of my state(s) when searching Android internal shared storage.  Is some sort of specific backup/save action necessary?

Ah, OK, I see what you mean.

The directory you're referring to is /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.thomasokken.plus42/files on my devices, and it can be accessed using the Files app, under Hamburger Menu → Device Name → Android → data → com.thomasokken.plus42 → files.

It would make sense if Plus42 stored its files there, where the Files app can access them, rather than in private storage, where the Files app cannot access them.

I'll look into changing that. It's a simple change in principle, but there could be some ramifications that I need to deal with.

For now, the only way to access the files is by copying them using Main Menu → File Import & Export.

OK, that makes sense.  I was using the more or less generic Android approach to accessing app files and it didn't return the results expected. I have other apps that store info in private storage so I was aware of that possibility.  I'm not an android programmer but I understand there are permission issues with making things available to the Files function so that might be something to watch for.  I don't see this issue as anything major - get to it when and if you are interested.

Also, just a comment, on my Plxel 8 Pro running Android 16, both the Haptic Feedback and the Key Clicks function very well although the Key Clicks slider has to be moved up past the 70% point to get useful click volume.  The Key Click range from that point to 100% is quite adequate.

Further on file location:
Using the Android .../Files location would conceptually match the DM42 approach where DM42 files are visible and manipulatable in a defined directory structure when the FAT Disk is active.
