I am running Free42 3.3.9a from the Play Store on my Pixel 8 with Android 16 with the Security Update of 5 Oct 2025.
The Play Store says that the most recent update was 21 Oct 2025.
My phone says the app was updated five days ago for me.

About the time of the last update, I noticed that the display looked more pixelated than I remembered.
I found in the Preferences that "Display smoothing" was unchecked.
I checked it and the display now looks as I recalled it again, so I think I probably have had that box checked for a long time.

I rarely have any occasion to visit the "Preferences" screen. I even had trouble finding it today. I wonder if a recent update could have unchecked that setting.

Hmm... that's not supposed to happen.

The default setting of "display smoothing" is unchecked, but it's never supposed to change except when changed by the user.

Note that the setting is tied to screen orientation, so you can have it set differently for portrait and landscape.
