I suspect that I know the answer to this question, but...
I tried making a smaller version of LandscapeLeft skin, but ended up confounded by the fact that all of the Key descriptors have to be redesigned for smaller size and different position... that's well beyond my motivation factor!!

I think I see, now, why so many skins are the same size as other skins...
A skin editor would be a *ton* of work, especially if it needed to be cross-platform, but that seems like the only way to manage this task...

The fact that the keys are in a grid means it's not quite as bad as it may seem at first... but yes, it is a chore. I wrote a special-purpose tool to create the PortraitShort, LandscapeLeft, and LandscapeRight skins from PortraitTall, because I was getting frustrated with the amount of work that was going into the Plus42 skins.

A cross-platform GUI-based skin editor would be great to have. But definitely a lot of work. If I were to create one, I'd probably do it in Java, I've done cross-platform GUI applications in Java before and I was pretty happy with that. Or Qt, that seems to be the popular choice nowadays, but I don't know the first thing about it.

Well, I'm seriously considering pursuing this challenge, but if I develop it, it will be in C++, built with MinGW tool chain; that is what I do *all* of my Windows development on... if I tried to start from scratch with Java, which I don't know at all, I'd never get anywhere...

So, will you accept a project developed with MinGW C++ ??
