i got a message that RTN stack is full? never seen before and i had HP42s for many years then free42 and never seen this error before.

When the RTN stack overflows on the HP-42S, you don't get an error message. In Free42, you do.

When a RTN stack overflow happens, something is wrong, either way.

If you could share what you were doing right before the error, I'd be happy to help try to figure out the root cause of the problem.
