First, what tool are you talking about. That question is like asking
does an apple taste better than an orange? Second, hand tools work any
where depending on the individuals skill. Power tools work any where
depending on how you convert the electricity. But Convert you must!
The USA runs on 60 MHZ at 120 Volts, UK runs on 50 MHZ and 240 Volts.
That requires a conversion. Also the two countries use different plugs
for household and shop electric equipment, which again requires a
rewiring or a plug conversion. Not worth the trouble unless you can't
get the tool any where else. My son and I have purchased British tools
because the USA has never made what he wanted. We put in a transformer
and special wiring and plugs for the tool. Not really worth the effort
in my opion, but he wanted the tool, so we got it.

In article <vljv0ad8u088and34...@4ax.com>,
Frequency (Hz not MHz) is unlikely to be an issue, motors will just run a
little slower that's all. 110V is mandatory on UK building sites and in
many industrial settings so 220V (Nominal UK and European voltage) to 110V
transformers are easily and freely available.

I am surprised you put in special transformers because the US also has
220V available and I read of many putting 220V into their workshops to run
higher powerd tools and machines.
