BT are dropping newsgroups from the start of December so if BB
returns next year I guess I won't be able to chat here any more.

Well - it was fun...

There are other newsgroup servers that you could use, some of them are free.

It is also possible to access this group via Google Group.
This is its url:
https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!forum/free.uk.tv.bigbrother

You need a Google Account so that you can login and post messages to free.uk.tv.bigbrother.

[sent via Google Groups/

I'm sending this message via the newsgroup server I use. I will also
send a copy via Google Groups.

One free newsgroup server that some people use is Eternal September.

BT are using Giganews, if you want to continue with them it's a minimum of
$5/month for a 30 day retention. Not sure what I'm going to do, yet..!

It's "only" another $60/year, but that's the point, it's extra now.

If BT had said in their email something like "Sorry but we are dropping
newsgroup support because there is very little use and it is no longer
cost effective" or words to that effect then I would probably
reluctantly see their point.

However the cheeky way they fail to acknowledge that they are dropping
a service and say something like "don't worry, you can pay instead"
and then pretend to be offering a special rate which is available to anyone
is so insulting that words fail me.

Yes - I'll have a look at other options, but I have a feeling that I
might just call it a day for newsgroups.

I am sure many people don't realise that before Facebook and Twitter
people were happily chatting online, and even being rude and inventing
words like "troll" which have now been misappropriated!

I use that one. It costs 10 Euros per year (£7.87 at the moment).

Thanks Greg. Free.uk.tv.bigbrother is just about the only NG
I still post in these days! So I'll give one of the free ones a go
if BB comes back next year!
