Those of you who use Tescos at Galashiels, or are hoping to use the
projected Tescos in Berwick should perhaps read the following
excerpt...
----------------------
RFID stands for Radio Frequency IDentification, a technology that
hooks miniature antennas up to tiny computer chips smaller than a
grain of sand to track items at a distance.
Because of their stealthy potential, we have nicknamed these chips
"Spychips." When a spychip is combined with an antenna, it creates a
tracking "tag."
RFID Spychips have been hidden in products on shelves at Tesco, and
they have already been used to spy on consumers.
Have you already taken an RFID Spychip home with you? It's time to ask
Tesco if there's a tag in _your_ bag.

Not to be confused with the ordinary security tag, which merely
prevents you from leaving a shop without paying, this technology has
the capability of uniquely and permanently identifying and tracking
everything you buy, even after you've taken it home or given it to
someone else. Certain govt depts are said to be watching eagerly to
see how apathetic the public are in accepting tracking technology.
