What happened at Metro Centre today ???

Hi,

Just curious. We went to the Metro Centre today and at about 10.30am
alarm bells went off in the shop we were in (Green Quadrant), when we
got out the shop lots of other shops alarms were going off too. Shop
shutters were shut and a massive cloud of purple smoke filled the whole
of the green quadrant. The mirrored fire door exits all opened and some
people were evacuating out of them. Although nobody from Metro Centre
staff were co-ordinating any kind of evacuation. Some shoppers simply
stayed. The purple smoke was quite choking, smelled like fireworks smoke
!!

What was going on ???????
