JC and ANGELINA GRIMSHAW
JC and Angelina Grimshaw are a brother and sister acoustic duo from The
Isle of Wight specialising in country blues, hula, Cajun, early jazz and
folk! This potent blend is obvious all through JC's most recent LP
"Dance When You're Living" which frankly is a 5 star record. With a
vocal style reminiscent of Bessie Smith and Memphis Minnie, Angelina
pairs wonderfully with JC's impressive work on Steel guitar, dobro and
mandolin. Their repertoire involves classic acoustic tracks incorporated
with their own original compositions. They've toured extensively in
Europe, Russia, Japan and America and have appeared with the likes of BB
King, Peter Green, Taj Mahal and Van the Man. JC has also played in
Midge Ure's band around the UK and Europe. It's a delight to have them
return to play at The 12-Bar Club following their debut at the BPP
Christmas Party.
WIRED COUNTY
Born out of the North-East London barrio of Dalston, Wired County
subscribe to the time-honoured pub-rock ethic of anytime, anywhere with
minimal equipment and a tough truckload of goodtime downhome original
songs.
The band was first conceived at the beginning of '98 by cheeky cockney
gravel-voiced frontman Laurence Johns and guitar slinger/studio whizzkid
'Baldy' Jon Shardlow. Inspired by his mother's record collection, Johns
drew upon Shardlow's Stones fixation to create some first-rate gutter-
fresh country music. The band's line-up was sealed immediately with the
recruitment of bass virtuoso Dave Farren (ex-Bad Manners), skintight
drummer Bill Austin and Telecaster master Spike Liseiko (ex-Lost In
Austin).
While being peculiarly private perfectionists, they have come out into
the light on various occasions, often on the stage of Dalson's Trolley
Stop, where they have constantly proved themselves a ruthlessly riveting
live machine, and in May '98 at the fabled Philosophy Society, where
they took the early shift after The Gourds. With the album 'Unsafe At
Home' due out late Spring, be ready for a long hot summer getting Wired.
"The ass-kickin' starts here. Wire County seriously take the bull by
the horns with an absolute no-holds-barred cow-punk delivery"
Rock'n'Reel magazine
Cheers Gerry!
TANDY
First of all, Tandy is the name of a character in Sherwood Anderson's
novel Winesburg, Ohio. It's also the name of a band formed in September
1996 by Mike Ferrio. The band leader and songwriter grew up in a very
small town in northern New York state. The drummer Tom McCrum grew up in
Dublin, Ireland. The band's fiddle player Miss Darlene Snow is from
Alexandria, Virginia. She, by the way, grew up right down the street
from where Emmylou Harris grew up. The band are now based in Brooklyn,
NY and Austin, Tx.
In the last year and a half they've been fortunate enough to open shows
for some of the musicians and bands they admire most, including Jimmie
Dale Gilmore, Rick Danko, Steve Earle, Freakwater, Gillian Welch & David
Rawlings, Jon Dee Graham, Robert Earl Keen, Michael Hurley, Kelly
Willis (who sang on a couple songs on their last album) and Jonathan
Richman.
The band return to the UK after their debut last October with a
different line up from that found on their two latest albums "Some
Summer's Day" and on their new CD, "Lichtenstein's Oriole." Scott Yoder
will play bass and Drew Glackin on Lap Steel, Electric Guitar and
Mandolin.

SCOTT MACDONALD
Scott MacDonald is a singer/songwriter from Eaglesham, a village on the
outskirts of Glasgow, his music has best been described as where celtic
meets country. His acoustic and harmonica driven songs are often
accompanied by many well known local musicians. His debut EP was
released in the summer of 1999 on the Glasgow based Catacol Records
label to great acclaim and the title track was chosen by the BBC and
Scottish Art Council to feature on their new talent sampler CD titled
Seriously Scottish. The sampler CD was officially released in January at
this years music industry convention MIDEM in Cannes. The 3 track CD
titled Burn Baby Burn is songs written about his time in Australia where
he played Perth & Melbourne where he was known as the Celtic Neil Young!

blues to his own personal Fen odyssey, Flatlands, achieving an
extraordinary range of sounds and moods with his guitar that must scare
the daylights out of the Junction bats". MOJO

BAP KENNEDY REMAINING DATES
Former front man of Northern Ireland band Energy Orchard - now solo with
a Steve Earle produced album and an album of Hank Williams covers under
his belt. Both have received excellent reviews and have established Bap
as a credible solo artist. His 3rd self-produced album "Lonely Street"
is out in the UK on May 8th on his own Lonely Street Discs (marketed
through Dressed To Kill). Initial reviews are extremely favourable - a
departure from the Steve Earle sound - taking a more Van Morrison,
Martin Stephenson/Cowboy Junkies vibe.
