Ipswich only exists because of the River. We were given the River
Orwell by Royal Charter in 1200. That charter was renewed by various
Kings over the years and to this day the bed of the River Orwell
doesn't belong to the crown but to us. Our useless town council
decided many years ago to run the dock down and then sell it on the
cheap. Since then it has been a headlong rush to give even more of it
away. The Ipswich Dock Acts from 1805 - present guarantees us certain
Rights but they get in the way of future development and IBC wants it
closed totally so a private gated community can be built. The latest
in a long line of nonsense actions is the effort to put a barrier
across the New Cut. This is necessary to get planning consent for the
Island site but as that would be rather more bare faced than even IBC
can force upon us the barrier is claimed to be a flood protection
barrier. This is yet another attempt to steal our rights away from us
and there are few who even know what is happening. See the latest post

The copy has not formatted very well but the information is there. Now
it is for Ipswich people to join in and protect their interests.
