Dear reader
I am male and 48 years of age.
I was diagnosed with Ulceritive Collitis in1985.
I was a lifeguard at the time and was phsically fit
I do not take medicine for Collitis (I could not tolerate the medicine that
the doctors gave me) and everything seems fine.
In the last few years I have been told that I have Benign Prostate Growth (a
camera was inserted down my penis to check for cancer).
A few years ago I was told I had Gilberts Syndrome.
2 years ago I was told I had Osophegous Relux Disease. A camera was inserted
down my throat for confirmation and a check was made for Helicobacter
Pylori. The bactreria was not presnt.
In January while I was in Thailand I developed very, very severe chest pains
and my legs went like jelly (like a fool to much booze and cigarettes. I now
do not smoke at all.
After many trips to the A and E department, Heart problems were ruled out.
I passed the treadmill test with flying colours.
Not suprised by that as I used to run three miles a day and never had chest
pains once.
3 months ago the chest pain got real bad and then one day I started to get
very severe pains in different parts of my body.
Again, many trips to the A and E department.
One day my stomach was in so much pain and gurgling,, I had to go to the
duty doctor who prescribed Dicyclomine 20 mg three times a day.
The first tablet that I took worked a treat.
Why was bowel/bladder/Osophegous in spasm in the first place?
My Gallbladder, bladder was checked along with my kidneys for stones and my
liver was also checked out. All ok.
At the time I was taking 50mg of Sertaline for depresion and 20 mg valium a
day for anxiety
I was also taking 20mg of Omeprazole a day.
I have been diagnosed with Widespread Chronic Pain Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome and Chondromalacia Patella crepitus in the right knee
I was put on 700 milligrams of Gapapentin as well as strong pain kilers.
The pain killers were not strong enough.
I now take 20mg of Omeprazole per day, 20mg of valium per day, the 50mg of
sertaline I do not take anymore as the Gapapentin has worked wonders for my
mental health.
Dicyclomine 20 mg three times a day.
I also take 2 x 200mg of Tramadol SR per day for pain relief.
Never in my life have I experienced such severe pain as the Widespread
Chronic Pain Syndrome.
I often was on the floor screaming and crying with pain it was that bad
Question 1: With regards to the Ulceritive Collitis and Osophegous Relux
Disease, how often should I be checked for both diseases and what procedures
would that entail?
Question 2: With regards to the Widespread Chronic Pain Syndrome any
information with regards to the following:
Why do I I have it?
How long will it last?
Will it get worst?
Yours faithfully,
P.M.Gregory
