Solar sails (a thin metallized film and means to force an object),
probably, could be used such way:
1. For changing trajectory of a celestial body menacing the Earth by
collision.
Directly, attaching the sail to the body. Or indirectly, by changing of
trajectories of other bodies which in turn, by gravitation will change
the trajectory of the menacing body.

2. For creation of a larger body, for example artificial planet, from
small bodies with attached sails.
3. On the contrary, for disaggregation of bodies. As means of
counteraction for gravitation that pulls together these bodies to a
center.
