Can I make a decent photograph of lightening using a budget SLR camera?

course, a digital camera would be easier to experiment with as you'd see the
result of one shot and could then change settings (if necessary) for the
next shot.

I can't see and difficulty in taking photos of lightning using an SLR. Of
course, a digital camera would be easier to experiment with as you'd see the
result of one shot and could then change settings (if necessary) for the
next shot.
