Hi All,

I'm trying to find a cheap and dependable solution to doing some
time lapse photography.

I have a Nikon D200 which has built in time lapse on the firmware,
but for obvious reasons I'm loathe to leave it lying arround even semi-
unattended due to it's value. (Which means the time lapse is restricted
to an hourly shot and then when I remember and am not too busy with
other stuff on site!)

Does anyone know of a cheap Digital Camera I can purchase which
will with a minimum of modification allow me to run it in a time lapse
function? I've got a budget of arround £100 (i.e. how much I'm
potentially willing to lose if someone walks off with it) and would be
looking to run it for several hours at a time. I'm thinking along the
lines of a car battery in a box, with a pole to which I can mount the
camera and cables from that to the camera with the camera taking a shot
every, say 10mins. The idea behind this is for doing a time-lapse of a
production build up which I can bundle up into a flash movie for my
clients to use on their websites.

Any input would be appreciated and valued!

Cheers,

My Pentax Optio W60 does timelapse with intervals as short as 1
second. It's more than your budget but others in the same range may
also have timelapse.

of Edinburgh. I haven't done any good enough yet to put on my site.

regards Dave.

I ended up buying a Canon Powershot A560, with the intention of running
CHDK on it which allows for scripting of the camera's functions. But the
damn thing hasn't arrived yet :) That timelapse looks very good, but I
suspect it wasn't shot on a normal digital camera, probably on a DV
Camera or similar as the framerate seems too high.

How do you get the jpgs into a movie?

Can reccomend the Canon Powershot range that support CHDK

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

I'm using one of the scripts (Ultra Intervalometer) and it's perfect for
what I plan upon doing. Just need to tweak the power settings and work
out wether it's worth building a battery pack :)

Not a photographic solution, but wouldn't it be easier and cheaper just
to insure your camera?
