Empolyment law - statutory holiday pay

Over the last 7 years have been employed by two companies who have
both payed less than my normal contracted houly rate of pay for
holidays (currently �4 per hour less, so I lose �32 per day pre tax).
Both positions were full time, 40 hours per week.

A friend has mentioned that this may not be legal as I am being
financialy penalised for taking my statutory leave.

Could anyone clarify if this is correct before I question it with
management.
