At the moment we are introducing supplements for dairy cattle feed:
ProGlyc
A palatable dry propylene glycol to prevent (sub)clinical Ketosis in herds.
The idea is that we feed this product prior to calving and in this way
prevent ketonbodies from building up in the blood. Therefore the cows do not
intoxicate themselves and the ketonbodies do not have their dramatic effect
on dry matter intake. In the field you can see that the cows are more active
and eat more. After calving they start up much better (no subclinical and
clinical Ketosis), they are more active, feed intake increases more rapidly
etc. In this way we can prevent problems.

Encapsulated anionic salts to prevent Milk fever. As you know many
scientific experiments have proven that anionic salts active the
calciummetabolism and therefore reduce the incidence of Milk fever. On the
other hand the experiments also demonstrate that feed intake is a major
problem when you had these salts to the diet. Kimtec has encapsulated the
salts and made a slow release product that is not liberated in the mouth and
therefore does not have a negative effect on dry matter intake. We can feed
up to 6000 mEq/kg with a drop in intake. This is especially important in
diets with high potassium levels.
