I use an old wheelie bin with a trap door I cut in the bottom so that I can
empty it. It's got a clear space at the bottom for collecting residual water
which runs out of a tap I fixed in, it makes an excellent liquid fertiliser
but you have to water it down because it's very strong.

Bung in some worms purchased from a fishing tackle shop and there you go.

Chuck in the uncooked kitchen waste and a few grass clippings, works a
treat.
