It seem the nonsenseicle idea to stop anyone with a metal detector searching
ploughed fields for historic treasures is in some way thought to be helping
our historic social knowledge.
One of the Excuses the Archeologist refers to in their Dis-infomation stance
is that Metal detectors damage scheduled sites before a proper archeologicle
survey can be submitted..............Ummmmm?
Watch many episodes of TIMETEAM showing the JCB taking off the top few
inches of soil whereby damaging the very small and shallow aretefacts buried
that the detectorist are searching for... yes in the top 8" of soil...
So the next time someone ask permission to search your land, Think carefully
before denying the history to be found beneith our feet. Not only could you
be sitting on a fortune = a medievil hoard of Gold or small but still as
important finds.
You may have heard stories of detectorists shown in a bad light These are
few & far Between as the majority want to enjoy their hobby knowing they
have full support & one way to stop even the few likley lads chancing their
normally good reputation is to give access to all who ask in a polite and
proper manner.....
