Hi

Anyone got any idea where you can buy wooden slats for bends?

I knelt on one and it broke?

Thanks in advance

Go to Wickes or practically anywhere. Find a length of wood as near as
you can. Pay £1.50. Take it home and fit it.

You may want to move a good one from elsewhere on the bed, somewhere
that has a less of a chance of being knelt on in future, and replace
that one.

It is often possible to repair the original. Use a good glue like
Cascamite/Resinmite to bond the end together, then glue on hardwood
strips as a splint.

Otherwise, take the broken slat to a timber merchant and they should be
able to identify the timber and supply you with a piece of stock timber
of the same type to use as a replacement.

The fact that it is broken means it has been "Overloaded", whatever that
means!
It probably means you wont get away with a bit of B&Q softwood, or any other
sort offered through the normal DIY circle.
If you are going to make a new one, you need a tough pringy wood like ash,
that isnt too dry.

Woodfit (in Chorley i think, but mail order), keep laminated beech bed
slats, these are supposed to be very good, but i havent used them myself.

Average el cheapo pine bed uses plywood if you are lucky, but mainly cheap
pine.
