Electric shower

Just moved into a new (to us) house and the shower does not work.
There is a red light on standby setting which shows power is available and
water seems to be available.
We were told it is a new shower (it looks it).
Have looked for the obvious .
ie loose wire, RCD . As red light is on the unit does not seem to be an
electrical supply problem.
The pump? Any ideas please?

or is there a isolation valve turned off on the water supply
