To all.....Help!!

I have the folowing problem with this boiler. It was installed as a
pressurised system

The red light is on permanent (not flashing) when we switch the boiler on.

Initially the green and red lights go on together, then to red only.

Every time we press the reset, it immediately goes to red.

The temp on the boiler is set to max

The timer (Landis & Gyr RWB200) is set to constant for both CH & HW

There appears to be no sound from the pump (Grundfos)

The room stat (Honeywell) is also set to max.

The temp guage on the hot water cylinder is also set to max.

Prior to the above event happening, we were constantly resetting the system
(at least 3 times a day) over the past few weeks.

Any ideas would be helpful. As the boiler is out of warranty.

does the fan come on.?
Does the burner light or is there a sparking ticking noise?
Power OK stat and pump
check the PCB for scorch marks. If it is the PCB I can get you a recon one
for about £40 fan for about £70. With one year guarantee.

Try these out when all the pipes are cold.
you could get hold of a manual and go through the flow chart.

Call the manufacturer fixed price repair £150 parts and labour (1year Gtee
on parts) IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE RECON PARTS and a waste of time and money.
And its probably the thermistor as if the red light does not go out when
there is a call for heat the boiler thinks it is already hot

Sorry read that again. am I correct in thinking that when off there are no
lights on if so the wiring is wrong. Power on no demand = Red only. Demand
for heat = Red off green flashing until lit then steady Green. Boiler up to
temp = Red + flashing green until temp drops then flashing green till end of
anticycle time. Flashing Red = lockout. Alt flashing red +green = reverse
polarity . Green + Flashing red = fan fault. This boiler must have a
permanent live and the pump wired to the boiler. For service call the
manufacturer 01926 405405

Thanks to all for your advice

Had a CH engineer come out to give the Suprima a check.
It was the circuit board that needed replacing ( there was scorch marks on
both sides of the board)

The engineer commented that this is a quite common problem with this make
and that he's lost count as to the no of boards he's changed. Did say
however that I had good use out of the board
(it was dated 06/1998).

Cost for New replacement board £145 + vat,
BE WARNED !!

Interesting point as there is no red light when the timer is off. The
engineer noticed that as well and commented that the wiring is wrong ,
probably No "permanent live". He was not permited by his company to sort out
electrics, so no joy on this subject at this moment.

So question.
Having very basic electrical knowledge, what is the "permanent live" and how
do I discover which cable it should be?

Baxi Potterton only charge Ł150 inc vat (outside M25) parts and labour. If
the is no permanent live there is no pump overrun you are damaging the Heat
Exchanger. On the boiler connecting block there are 3 connections to the
left for the pump (usually only the live is used as neutral and earth can be
connected elsewhere) on the right are 4 connections Swl N E L, Swl is the
live switched by the timer etc and L is the permanent live ( you may find
Swl and L linked this is wrong) get a competent electrician to sort it

You can get someone in to check, but these are classic symptoms of this
boiler. The display does not go blank, you get a red light and a green
light and you have to turn it off and on a few times for it to work and
then it will work for a while until it needs to restart and then you
will get the red and green light again. You will need a new pcb kit
(Parts Center part number 424146). You can buy it and fit it yourself if
you wish, it is a rewiring kit for the boiler.
