Problem: don't know how it passed the building regs, but the built-in header
tank of our crappy flat is BELOW head height, hence, no shower possible.
Pumping: too expensive for the short time we're going to be here.

So I spotted this £70 "venturi effect" shower in B&Q which apparently uses
our (very high) cold water pressure to "drag" the hot water from the tank,
but it says it still needs 1 foot of head. But if it was dragging the water
from the tank, why shouldn't it work for us?
Even if we had to perhaps start the shower lower, and then put the shower
head in the holder above head height...by that time a combination of
syphonage and venturi should take over shouldn't it? Or should I not open
the box??

AFAIK the 1ft head applies to the mixer unit not the shower head, check with
the makers help line.

Don't open the box and then go for a outlet pump from:

www.tritonshowers.co.uk

model T40i may do your job. The unit fits between the shower head and the
mixer valve to boost any sort of pressure you have.
